Most people pay their bills out of their monthly salary. It's surprising then that some people don't have Salary Protection. If you're ever incapable of working due to injury, illness or retrenchment – and provided you're still paying your premiums correctly – FRANK.NET will pay you the amount stipulated in your policy.
There are a number of factors to take into account when applying for a Salary Protection policy from FRANK.NET:
Take-home pay - Your take-home pay is the regular cash amount you receive from your employer after tax (PAYE) and employee benefits (e.g. medical aid and pension contributions) have been deducted.
Tax - From 1 March 2015, Salary Protection payouts are tax free and FRANK.NET will not issue contribution certificates for tax deductions on your monthly payments.
Payout - The monthly payouts will start three month after the last salary payment from your employer.
Retrenchment - FRANK.NET will pay you if you lose your job as a result of your employer facing adverse business conditions, introducing new technology or restructuring the organisation and your employer followed a legitimate retrenchment process in terms of the Labour Relations Act. As long as our agreement with you has been active for at least six months, you're not self-employed, employed by any of your family members or were aware that you'll be retrenched before taking the cover, FRANK.NET will pay out for a maximum of six months. Voluntary retrenchment is not covered, and you cannot have declined a reasonable alternative job offer either from the employer that retrenched you or from any other potential employer. You need to actively seek employment during the claim period.
FRANK won't pay out if you have not been in permanent, uninterrupted employment for at least 24 months before the start of the retrenchment process. (One break of less than 30 days between employers will be considered as uninterrupted employment). You should also have been permanently employed for at least 12 months by your current employer.
Notifying FRANK.NET of lifestyle choice changes - Once you have Salary Protection from FRANK.NET, alert us to any changes regarding the physical obligations of your occupation, if you start or stop smoking and start or stop risky sports or hobbies. We may have to amend your agreed payout and premiums. If you don't let us know, any future claim may be affected or even declined.
Claim payouts - We want to ensure that when you claim, we pay. Strive to obtain and follow qualified medical advice when required. FRANK.NET will not be able to pay the claim if you injure yourself on purpose, or if you are injured while breaking the law or while intentionally exposing yourself to war or war-like activities.
HIV testing - FRANK.NET will need the results of a recent HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) test from one of our laboratory partners, sent to us within three months of the start of the policy agreement. FRANK.NET will pay for the test and the results are kept completely confidential.
Keep making payments - If you claim, you need to continue with your monthly payments to ensure that you remain covered. You can claim more than once for illness and injury.
